Christmas is my favorite time of year. I love the magical, peaceful, family orientated feeling that surrounds Christmas. One of the ways we try to get the most out of the holiday season is to watch Christmas movies.
We start watching Christmas movies December 1st. We aim for one a day, but December can also be crazy busy so we just watch as many as we can. On the busier nights we will watch one of the short animated movies.
Cuddling up on the couch with family, a cozy blanket and a mug of hot chocolate to watch a Christmas movie is one of my favorite things. It is a great way to create lasting holiday memories and extend the holiday feeling from a couple of days to the whole month!
It would be fun to try different hot chocolate recipes throughout the month. Check out my post of 9 Delicious Hot Chocolate Recipes.
This is an easy family holiday tradition to start. Each year I like to add to our movie collection. While many of the movies are shown on T.V., they often aren’t on when we are ready to watch.
I have put together a list of some great Christmas movies with links to Amazon for your convenience.
Family Christmas movies:
Family Movies – Rated PG
With any movie that isn’t rated G, I would suggest watching it yourself first. Some of the PG movies are intended for teens and not younger kids.
If you want to add a fun twist, you could wrap up your movies and then pick one to unwrap and watch. I would suggest to wrap the shorter animated movies in a different color than the full length movies. This way if you have time for just a short movie you aren’t unwrapping 5 to finally find one.
Another option would be to write the movie titles on colored slips of paper, say red for full length and green for shorter movies. When you are ready to watch a movie pick one at random out of a bowl.
Happy watching and happy holidays!!!!!
